Bond Recruitment is currently recruiting for a PLANNING MANAGER this is a career advancing opportunity as you will have the to grow with the company
The company: The business is well established with an excellent staff retention rate that is an engineering company
The role and responsibilities:
• Prepare all cost estimates to support the Quotation process
• Lead the company's production planning processes
• Manage and continuously improve the Contract review process to ensure that all commercial, technical and quality capabilities are assessed for both In-house manufacture and sub contract prior to production build.
• Estimation
a. Provide timely estimates to support the cost of manufacture, that are competitive and at the same time reflective of the business capabilities.
• Ensure technical experts, (both internally and externally), are consulted with to obtain best method and work with the purchasing department to obtain best material, treatment costs.
• Ensure lead time is competitive and significant Lead time constraints are communicated with the estimation and that delivery risk is understood and clearly communicated. Some PFMEA may be required.
• Establish KPI for performance monitoring

• Planning
• Create detailed and accurate structures within the MRP system with documented Instructions to ensure manufacturing of product conforms to customer requirements.
• Work with the Inspection department to ensure Inspection detailing is included within the structure.
• Ensure Material and Treatment lead times are verified and are correctly set within the structure and price breaks are correctly reflected.
• Ensure all program time, set and run times are as accurate as possible.
• Produce a weekly control sheet to allow for tracking and comparison of NPI Margins from Quotation to completion including Quoted cost, Standard cost and Actual cost.
• Chair a weekly margin improvement meeting.
• Establish KPI for performance monitoring

• Engineering Control
• Ensure all Internal and external changes are controlled and disseminated
• Ensure that the ECR process is documented, controlled and understood.
• Establish KPI for performance monitoring

• Contract Review
• Manage and continuously improve the daily Contract Review process and ensure that any backlog for review is dealt with immediately.
• Ensure that the process is efficient and that all commercial, technical and quality capabilities are assessed for both In-house manufacture and sub-contract.
• Ensure process is designed to run daily, allowing for absences.
• Ensure that all in-house and Subcon capabilities are assessed
• Ensure Quality is approved, via the production of a quality control plan or FAI where applicable
• Ensure that the Cost and therefore method of manufacture is agreed with the manufacturing team, escalate if necessary.
• Work with production scheduling to ensure that the customer delivery date can be achieved. Every effort should be made to achieve the stated delivery date. If an alternative delivery date has to be worked to, then ensure this is communicated as part of the Order Acknowledgement process.
• Ensure that the Delivery risk is understood.
• Ensure that there is a diligent review process carried out to asses Tooling, Jigs and other Fixture requirements are understood and actioned.
• Establish KPI for performance monitoring
• Health & Safety
• Promote a safe working environment and ensure that H&S rules and regulations are adhered to and all matters relating to this are dealt quickly & effectively.
• Proactively identify risks and implement Risk Assessments
• Ensure all PPE guidelines & policies within your area of responsibility are adhered to.

• House Keeping / Image
• Ensure all Company standards for housekeeping, Image and Dress Code within your area are adhered to.

• Lean Process and Continuous Improvement
• Establishing effective operating policies, lean initiatives and processes.
• Be involved in change management and continuous improvement across the Supply Chain to drive collaboration and partnership

Additional Information
£25,000 - £32,000 PA plus benefits that include a generous holiday entitlement, training and pension.
Personal specification:
• BTEC/HND/HNC or Degree in Engineering
• Clear understanding of Production processes and CNC machining
• Demonstrate background of career progression within Engineering planning
• Ability to be customer-focused
• Able to optimise and prioritise resources to maximise productivity
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem solving skill
• Experience of Risk Reduction tools
